Eating a Balanced Diet

This is the sixth in a series of posts about my recent foray into the interior of Papua.

While visiting villages in the interior, we met with women and shared a variety of information with them. Not everyone is literate and not everyone speaks Indonesian anyway, so we used a lot of visual aids.

The poster used for presenting information about nutrition showed a number of foods that make up a balanced diet: potatoes, beans, leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, pineapples. You also have your pigs, fish, rabbits, frogs. And don’t forget your kuskus, bats, rats and grasshoppers.

Basl. The kuskus that lives in Febby's driveway, who her host mom PROMISES isn't for eating.
